"Let all the earth fear the Lord, let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood forth...Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!" Ps 33:8-9,12

There's no question God's power is on the move. I can see it in my own community, here on Long Island. Vibrant lay apostolates are everywhere and I'm encountering more and more Catholics and other Christians with a passion and a purpose that cannot be stopped because of their trust in God's power.

In addition to my work as a writer and workshop leader, I'm also the founder of Catholic Writers of Long Island, which held it's first event, a full-day conference, earlier this year. Out of that fledgling effort, which was very blessed to have received an overwhelming response, we now have a mailing list of 170 people who either attended or wished they had and are willing to incorporate the spirit of St. Thomas More's prayer:  "The things that we pray for, good Lord, give us the grace to work for." We are now in the process of planning next year's conference!

At our first post-event meeting, we were very blessed to have Brother James McVeigh, the Director of the Office of New Evangelization for the Diocese of Rockville Center, give the opening comments. He put his finger on the three elements that are present when we put Jesus Christ at the very center of everything we do: purpose, passion, and power.

Rest assured, as you labor in the fields of the Lord, that as you strive each day to lay it all at the Lord's feet, to make of your life a gift of love and service, that He waters what you plant and completes what you leave unfinished.

I'd like to share the following message from the lovely Christian team over at 40 Days for Life. It includes a free "gift"; an offer of extensive audio and print resources that you can use in your home, Church, or classroom with adults or teens, to teach effective methods for saving lives from abortion -- found at www.endingabortion.com. Just click on the orange button to get your free materials. Here's that message I promised [enjoy the short, encouraging video]!

Dear Lisa,

My family and David Bereit's family just got together

In the video, we also have some gifts for you :-)

Hope you enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed
making it for you, Lisa!

During this holy season, when we celebrate the birth
of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, our entire
national 40 Days for Life team and their families
wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas.

In Christ Who Is the Reason for the Season,
